So yeah in general I'd say go to Markt, but get there early, sit at the bar and order your food at the bar. For some reason the french fries are particularly good. Extremely overpriced, but great, and good portions. I can't eat seafood so half of it is off limits to me but the non-seafood is great. There seems to be a split with the staff, too - the waiters are rude and dopey and don't know anything about the beer that is Markt's main selling point, but the bartenders are all sweethearts and know everything about beer and love talking about it and teaching you and helping you figure out what you want. And generally I find that the other patrons of the place are pretty unpleasant. They won't let you sit at a table unless you're ordering food, so I've gotten roped into buying food I didn't really want just because I didn't want to stand around. But the bar is only like 12 feet long, and on any given night after 8pm there are 40+ wall street types milling about. The thing is that their beer menu is so spectacular and comprehensive, it's reasonable to just want to go there to have some beer.
It's generally my backup choice for a Friday night spot. I find an excuse to go hang out at Markt maybe once every couple months.
